To anyone who has ever travelled the TranzAlpine from Greymouth to Christchurch this news won’t be much of a shock.
National Geographic has rated it as one of the most scenic train journeys in the world.
The magazine says “in just five hours you’ll see some of the most stunning sights in New Zealand including the Waimakariri River, the Southern Alp mountain range, and a lush beech forest”.
